About

Safety First!

You can ride on trails and paths designated for biking but need to always yield to pedestrians. If you intend to ride in a metro area or on roadways, be sure to use proper riding etiquette for your personal safety and that of other riders. Be sure to follow traffic signals and stops as you would when driving a motorbike and use hand signals for turns and stops. Avoid riding on busy or unfamiliar roads without shoulders or that have dangerous blind spots, hairpin curves or cliffs. You should avoid riding in stormy wet conditions for your own safety, as roads may become flooded and visibility may be dramatically reduced. Wearing a reflective safety vest will help drivers see you under normal conditions however, you should avoid riding after dark or in foggy conditions in the morning.

Features & Operation

If you're planning a trip or an extended stay on the island of Kauai, one of the best ways to get around and see more of the island's natural beauty, is by renting an Electric Powered Bike from us.

E-bikes give you the extra oomph of energy to pedal uphill, so you can ride further regardless of your age or fitness level. When going downhill you can use  regenerative braking on certain models to slow you down, increasing battery efficiency. Maybe you haven't ridden a bike for some time, but don't let that deter you. E-bikes are a great way to ease into a fitness routine, by allowing you to reserve energy so you will be able to go further. See more videos about e-bikes features, safety and riding etiquette.

  • They go pretty fast

The harder you pedal, the bigger the boost, the faster you’ll ride—to a point. E-bikes let you hum along at a brisk clip, but they aren’t motorcycles. You’ll never jackhammer down the road at 45 mph. The motor is governed to stop propelling you further when you hit 20-28 mph, depending on the bike. Most e-bikes come with a power switch that lets you adjust the boost setting from “eco” (low) to “turbo” (high), for when you want a little more oomph to help you go up a steep hill.

  •    E-bikes make pedaling easier

Generally speaking, e-bikes are bicycles with a battery-powered “assist” that comes via pedaling or, in some cases, a throttle. When you push the pedals on a pedal-assist e-bike, a small motor engages and gives you a boost, so you can zip up hills and cruise over tough terrain without gassing yourself.

  • You'll ride a lot more

Getting an e-bike can dramatically increase how often you ride, according to a recent survey of nearly 1,800 e-bike owners in North America. Beforehand, 55 percent of respondents said they rode daily or weekly. After buying an e-bike, that number soared to 91 percent.

  • There's an e-bike for everything

Name a type of riding, and there’s an e-bike for that. If you have zero interest in an electric road bike, you may find yourself head over heels for a high-capacity e-cargo bike that can haul 400 pounds of stuff while still cruising at a cool 15 mph. E-bikes are available in fat, cargo, commuter, recreational, hardtail, full-suspension mountain, and even performance road bike styles.

  • Yes, you still get exercise

E-bikes do some of the work for you, but they still count as exercise, especially for people who have otherwise been sedentary. Colorado University researchers found that when 20 non-exercising men and women e-biked about 40 minutes three days a week, they improved their cardiovascular fitness and blood sugar in just one month. Even if you’re in excellent shape and very fit, you still can get exercise by e-biking.
